Teaching Gymnastics at EY, KS1 and 2

TBC, 1pm – 4pm, Ramridge Primary School, Luton

This practical course will develop the confidence and knowledge of staff to teach high quality gymnastics lessons. It will provide staff with the skills to teach gymnastics actions and how to create sequences and partner work. How to set up and use apparatus will also be covered.

By the end of the course delegates will:

  • Understand the requirements of the National Curriculum for gymnastics
  • Increased knowledge of how to deliver gymnastics
  • Be able to make lessons inclusive
  • Be able to make lessons challenging including how to use apparatus

This course is aimed at Teachers, Teaching Assistants, and adults other than teachers supporting learners in EY, KS1 and KS2 school settings.

Preparing for Ofsted – a Deep Dive in PE

Wednesday 5th March 2025, 1pm – 4pm, Waulud Primary School, Luton

This theory course is designed for those who want to develop their understanding of delivering High Quality Physical Education in a primary setting. It will provide staff with the knowledge and confidence to lead high quality PE in their school and also the confidence to lead PE through an Ofsted Inspection.

  • Understand the requirements of the National Curriculum
  • Understand teaching learning and assessment in different contexts
  • Be able to make lessons inclusive and challenging
  • Understand the expectations of an Deep Dive Ofsted Inspection within PE

This course is aimed at PE Leaders and those teachers/other adults who wish toupdate/refresh their knowledge of primary PE of sted inspections.

Promoting Positive Play and Behaviour at Lunchtimes

(Midday Supervisor Training)

TBC, 9.30am – 11.30am, Ramridge Primary School, Luton

A well-managed lunchtime period can provide a key opportunity for developing and maintaining high quality learning in areas of personal, social and physical skills. This theory and practical course will cover behaviour management, managing conflict and organising safe playground games.

By the end of the course delegates will:

  • Understand the benefits of effective play management during lunchtime
  • Experience some practical ideas and resources for use during lunchtimes to meet the needs of all young people

This course is aimed at new or existing midday supervisors

Adapted/Inclusive PE

Ramridge Primary School, Luton

This practical course will develop the confidence and knowledge of staff to be able to adapt PE lessons to include all pupils. It will provide staff with ideas, including activities that maybe new to the school.

By the end of the course delegates will:

  •  To gain knowledge of how to adapt PE using the STEP framework
  •  To consider how you can adapt PE in a variety of activities
  •  To share ideas and learn from other schools in the area

This course is aimed at PE Leaders, ECTs, RQTs and those teachers/other adults who wish to gain ideas to support pupils in PE.

Teaching Athletics at KS1 and 2

This practical course will develop the confidence and knowledge of staff to teach high quality athletics lessons. It will provide staff with the skills to teach running, jumping and throwing and a bank of ideas and resources which can be used in lessons.

By the end of the course delegates will:

  • Understand the requirements of the National Curriculum for athletics
  • Increased knowledge of how to deliver athletic
  • To have a bank of ideas to use in lessons
  • Be able to make lessons inclusive
  • Be able to make athletics lessons challenging and fun

 This course is aimed at Teachers, Teaching Assistants, and adults other than teachers supporting learners in KS1 and KS2 school settings.

Teaching Dry Land Swimming at KS1 and 2

Waulud Primary School, Luton

This practical course will develop the confidence and knowledge of staff to prepare their pupils for school swimming. It will provide staff with the skills to teach dry land swimming techniques to improve confidence prior to the pool lessons.

By the end of the course delegates will:

  • Understand the requirements of the National Curriculum for swimming
  • Increased knowledge of how to deliver swimming on dry land which can be incorporated into a PE lesson
  • To have a bank of ideas to use in lessons
  • Be able to make lessons inclusive
  • Classroom based Water Safety activities
  • Swimming awards available to support pupils achievement

This course is aimed at Teachers, Teaching Assistants, and adults other than teachers supporting learners in KS1 and KS2 school swimming setting.
