Swimming Pool Plant Operations (QCF)
Type: Active IQ Level 3 Certificate in Swimming Pool Plant Operations
The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to be able to safely manage the water quality and associated pool plant operations The qualification is Ofqual accredited and regulated through the awarding body Active IQ. The course is delivered over 3 days of face to face contact time with homework and a workplace assignment to be completed and submitted with demonstrable evidence to satisfy the assignment criteria (within 4 weeks), which is assessed by the tutor and verified by an internal quality assurance assessor before certification can be claimed.
Who should Attend
Staff working in sports and recreation organisations who need to be trained to a nationally recognised standard.
Anyone who has the responsibility for the safe and effective day to day management of swimming pool water treatment plant operations and taking remedial actions to restore ideal conditions

- The law including Health and Safety requirements
- Contamination and Bacteriological pollution
- Circulation and water treatment systems
- Values and Operating components of the pool plant
- Testing of pool and mains water
- Record keeping
- Filtration and Disinfection of the pool water including backwashing of filters
- Heating and Ventilation Systems
- Usage, Storage and Handling of pool chemicals Implementing emergency procedures Maintaining water quality
Candidates should be in a position where they test and monitor water quality and will be able to access and operate the swimming pool plant.
After the course, candidates will be required to undertake practical assignments back in the workplace and submit evidence to verify this.
All Active Luton Courses are delivered in English. Tutors must be convinced that you have sufficient fluency in written and spoken English to cope with your course from the start.
Learners must achieve and pass all 4 mandatory units 1(5 credits) which include course work, worksheets and a practical demonstration. After the course, candidates will be required to undertake practical assignments back in the workplace and submit evidence to satisfy the assessment criteria
It is recommended that holders of the qualification should attend CPD training to reduce the impact of skills fade.
