Infant & Child Resuscitation Workshop

Type: Workshop - Basic life support skills

A workshop developed by Active Luton to assist parents to gain a basic knowledge and understanding of what to do if your baby stops breathing, to encourage participation and the learning of the basic skills associated with infant and child resuscitation.

Dates & Venues

This is a bespoke course and can be run either in Active Luton Venues or Your Venue.

Course Aim

To equip participants with an awareness of the basic skills and knowledge to enable them to deliver lifesaving actions until further qualified medical assistance is available.

Course Format

A 2 hour workshop which can be delivered in a variety of formats to suit the needs of participants.

Who should do the course

Parents, Grandparents, baby sitters and young people who wish to learn basic resuscitation skills.


There is no formal assessment, participants will get the opportunity to have a go and will be guided by the trainer throughout the workshop to learn and demonstrate:

Basic life support skills (Infant and Child) - Not breathing
Moving and Handling of a breathing but unconscious casualty
Diagnosis and treatment of Choking
Diagnosis and treatment of Drowning

Course Content

Theory to include:

Techniques required for resuscitating infants and children (non breathing)
Action in an Emergency situation
Personal Safety
Casualty Management
Recognition and treatment of Choking
Recognition and treatment of Drowning

Practical to include:

Management of an Unconscious Casualty (breathing)
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - Infant and Child
Treatment and action for Vomiting, checking the Airway
Treatment of action for Choking
Recovery Position (child)

Entry Requirements

Must be able to undertake practical activity involving kneeling and lying down

All Active Luton courses are delivered and assessed in English. Tutors must be convinced that you have sufficient fluency in written and spoken English to cope with your course from the start.

Certification Qualification

Upon successful completion of the course participants will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance.
