Training and Development Team Achieves 10 Passes for New Horizons Supported Employment – Community Choices Group

Thursday, 05 October 2017

Our Active Training and Development Team recently presented 10 customers of the New Horizons Supported Employment - Community Choices service with certificates  for the successful completion of the Active IQ Level 1 Award in ‘Assisting the Delivery of Health Related Activity Sessions’.

Active Luton Training Officer, Hannah Sears, presented the group with their certificates at Farley Community Centre and ran a demonstration of the skills learned including how to run warm up sessions to assist sports coaches. She commented: “At the start of the course the group were very shy and one of the most rewarding aspects has been seeing friendships and confidence develop.”

The group already enjoy weekly football and other activity sessions at Stockwood Park Athletics Centre and the new qualifications will further increase their confidence and independence and the opportunity to volunteer and gain employment, as well as encouraging continued physical activity for the benefit of their health and wellbeing.
