Developing the Leaders of the Future

The Active Education team deliver a range of leadership opportunities throughout all key stages. All opportunities can be tailored to suit the needs of your pupils and school. Courses aim to develop the confidence and potential of young children, so that they can safely lead games and promote physical activity at break and lunch times.

Leaders are encouraged to be enthusiastic, supportive and inclusive making the activities fun and safe. Schools are often amazed at how this training develops the confidence and self esteem of the young leaders. Staff have also noticed that break times are more active and less behaviour issues have been evident.

Play Pal training for infant schools or Play Leader training for Junior schools help develop leadership skills during play times.

Training can be given for all age groups to deliver and/or support activities at intra or inter school festivals and competitions.

Intra-school festivals can be any activity that your school would like to deliver eg:

  • Multi Skills
  • Rugby World Cup,
  • Olympics
  • Paralympics
  • Numeracy
  • Literacy

Active Education is the locally delivery team for Change for Life Champions and the new Peer Mentors. Both of these programmes address Healthy Lifestyles. Following training they enable the Young Leaders to support and deliver Healthy Lifestyle clubs and activities.

For schools that would like greater leadership opportunities in PE lessons, Active Education has a course for teachers that will identify the leadership opportunities within lessons and provide staff with a bank of ideas to use with your pupils. Visit Bespoke Courses to find out more.
