Today, (Thursday 24 March) children at Norton Road Primary School learnt potentially lifesaving first aid skills taught by a specialist trainer from Active Luton.
The specially designed sessions educated students on recognising a medical emergency and how to keep the person safe until help arrives. They also learnt how to handle someone who is unconscious using the recovery position, as well as recognising and treating a bleed. Children were then encouraged to share what they learnt with family and friends to spread their lifesaving skills. While dealing with a very serious subject, the emphasis of the day was on having fun learning first aid and linking these skills to the rest of their learning in school including literacy, numeracy and of course science.
