Our Move More Luton programme is a nationally recognised programme working in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Care and the Luton and Dunstable Hospital. The sessions are available to anyone with a cancer diagnosis– either curative or palliative - and at any stage of the journey whether currently in active treatment, recovering from surgery or in remission. The first 12 sessions are free.
There are a wide variety of sports and activities all led by cancer rehabilitation specialists to suit all tastes. Activities range from swimming, exclusive Macmillan classes, one to one sessions in the gym and even Nordic walking. Participants are given individual support and advice about choosing appropriate activities and setting goals with programmes designed to lead participants back into mainstream activities and group exercise classes.
“My world was turned upside down; all my certainties were challenged and my body image became a constantly changing landscape”
Juliet Matthews had a pretty tough 2016 after a second diagnosis of Breast cancer in 2015. However, she reflects on one of her biggest turning points; being referred to the Macmillan Cancer Support gym membership scheme (Move more Luton)
