Workshop Basic life support skills
Dates & Venues
This is a bespoke course and can be run either in Active Luton venues or your venue.
To equip candidates with basic skills and knowledge to enable them to deliver basic life support or carry out basic First Aid actions until further qualified medical assistance is available.
Candidates are required to undertake a 2 hour training session which can be delivered in a variety of formats.
This is not a formal First Aid qualification.
Who should do the course
Staff with a responsibility to assist qualified First Aiders in the workplace which may include teachers, leaders, care workers and supervisors or qualified first aiders who wish to refresh existing First Aid Skills.
Informal ongoing assessment throughout the course with a final assessment:
Demonstration of BasicLife Support skills (adult and/or child)
Treatment & Care of an Unconscious Casualty
Demonstration of the ability to Control Bleeding
Theory to include
Action in an Emergency situation
Casualty Management and Casualty Care
Recognition and treatment of miscellaneous minor injuries or medical conditions as determined by candidates
Practical to include
Management of an Unconscious Casualty
Basic Life Support - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - Adult/Child
Control of Bleeding - Including basic bandaging/dressing techniques
Candidates must be at least 16 years of age at the commencement of the course
Must be able to undertake practical activity involving kneeling and lying down
All Active Luton courses are delivered and assessed in English. Tutors must be convinced that you have sufficient fluency in written and spoken English to cope with your course from the start.
Upon successful completion of the course candidates will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance
