Congratulations to Active Luton Training Officer Rachel Hyde, who has been awarded The Swim England Educator of the Year award 2017.
This magnificent achievement is in recognition of her outstanding work and leadership as the Active Luton Training Officer responsible for the development and training of new swimming teachers across a range of disciplines in Luton and extending across the ASA Eastern region. This achievement is all the more amazing as Rachel has only been a tutor for three years but has nonetheless already built a reputation for her high quality delivery and expertise. Jill Catherall, Swim England Workforce Administrator commented, “Rachel is recognised for her generosity with her time and advice. She is always seeking to expand her skill set. And is always positive and delivers to an excellent standard.”
As well as her work in training new learners, Rachel has also supported a number of trainee tutors and has also been involved in projects such as running courses to get more BAME females into teaching swimming. Rachel said, “It was an honour to receive the award. I love the way my work shows how, through the creativity of appealing to the individual needs of learners, we’re able to help more of the community and ultimately achieve more as a team. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing leaners achieve – especially those who were struggling to use their qualifications.”
Active Training & Development Manager, Carol Trower, also commented: “Rachel is a real asset both to Active Luton and the wider community…without such support, commitment and dedication we wouldn’t be able to deliver training opportunities to so many people and to the high standard we are recognised for. This award is recognition for Rachel and the all the hard work she has put in and I am really proud of her.”
